In early February 2004, U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair established a committee to look into the intelligence gathered on WMD that led to the invasion of Iraq. The response was the Butler Report, which was published on July 14, 2004. “It produced a summary of the available intelligence and made it clear that the Prime Minister’s claim that there was a clear and present danger from Iraqi WMD was an exaggeration. They said the claim in the November [2002] dossier that Iraq had the capacity to use WMD in forty-five minutes, which led to widespread suggestions in the media that Cyprus or even London was under threat, should not have been included.”
