FBI agent John O’Neill and Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald investigated connections between Osama bin Laden and the Brooklyn cell that conducted the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and planned other area attacks. They “relied on a significant amount of intelligence provided by the CIA, [that] was the basis for an investigation that ultimately led U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White to file a sealed indictment of bin Laden in June [8] 1998, two months before the attack on the U.S. embassies in East Africa.”
