3/5/1994

In March 5, 1994, the Saudi government “took away his [bin Laden’s] citizenship, in effect making him stateless. It urged his family to persuade him to give up his criticism of the House of Saud, and failing that, to restrict his access to family funds. Before long, his monthly stipend from the Bin Laden construction consortium ended and he was short of funds, although not destitute by any means. The family disowned him publicly, issuing a statement critical of his activities.”
