2/7/1995

While hiding in Pakistan in February 1995, World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef recruits South African Istaique Parker to plant nitrocellulose bombs in toy cars in luggage checked onto flights in Bangkok, Thailand. Parker has second thoughts, and ends up contacting Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) agents. They debrief him, and learn of Yousef’s whereabouts in Islamabad. “When Yousef calls Parker from the Su Casa, a guest house controlled by Osama bin Laden, DSS agents raid it [on February 7, 1995] with Pakistani authorities. The bomb maker is arrested. But his uncle [senior al Qaeda operative] Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, staying downstairs, escapes. Astonishingly, Mohammed gives an innocent-bystander press interview and is later quoted in Time magazine.”
