“In December [1994] Osama [bin Laden] wrote an open letter to the chief mufti of Saudi Arabia [Abdul Aziz bin Baz]…with a list of complaints against the House of Saud and its clerical supports. He criticized the Saudis for alleged corruption, for inviting Americans to defend the kingdom against Saddam in 1990, for not being sufficiently anticommunist in Yemen, and for arresting clerical leaders who opposed the family on these issues. But the bulk of the letter spoke of another sin: Saud support for the peace process with Israel.” [The 15th of the month used for date sorting purposes only.]
