In a hearing before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Armed Services on September 18, 2002, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff “General [Richard] Myers reported that the patrol aircraft [monitoring Iraq’s no-fly zones] had been fired on 2,300 times in two and a half years.”
