George Tenet bio

1. Name: George Tenet
2. Title: Former Director of the CIA, and Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University
3. Biography: Tenet started his career in 1982, working as a legislative assistant, quickly making his way up to Legislative Director to former Senator H. John Heinz II (R-PA). In 1985, Tenet became a Member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and in 1998, became Staff Director until 1993.

In 1993, President Bill Clinton appointed Tenet to Senior Director for Intelligence Programs at the National Security Council until 1995. That same year, Tenet was appointed Deputy Director of Central Intelligence. In 1997, Tenet was appointed Director Central Intelligence and held the position until 2004, staying in the position through the Bush Administration.

In 2004, Tenet submitted his resignation to then-President George Bush. Tenet went on to release his memoir titled At the Center of the Storm: My Years at the CIA in 2007. In 2008, Tenet became Managing Director of New York investment bank Allen & Company, where he currently manages investments.
