3. Biography

Bruce Riedel, former CIA analyst, is a Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy at the Saban Center for Middle East Policy of the Brookings Institution. He is known for his counter-terrorism expertise.

Some of the many public positions he’s held include serving as the Senior Director for Near East Affairs on the National Security Council, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Near East and South Asian Affairs, and National Intelligence Officer for Near East and South Asian Affairs at the National Intelligence Council. He has also served as an advisor to Presidents Barack Obama (as a presidential candidate), George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. 

He is the author of the article “Al Qaeda Strikes Back,” published in the May/June 2007 edition of Foreign Affairs, and the 2008 book The Search for al Qaeda: Its Leadership, Ideology, and Future.
