3. Biography: | From 1989 to 1998, Brian Michael Jenkins was the Deputy Chairman of Kroll Associates, an international investigative and consulting firm. Before 1989, he was Chairman of RAND’s Political Science Department and Director of RAND’s research on political violence from 1972 to 1989. In 1983, Jenkins served as an advisor to the Long Commission to examine the bombing of the U.S. Marine Barracks in Lebanon. He then assisted the Inman Panel in looking at the security of American diplomatic facilities abroad in 1984.
From 1985 to 1986 Jenkins was a Member of the Committee of the Embassy of the Future, which established new guidelines for the construction of U.S. diplomatic posts. In 1989, he served as an advisor to the Pan Am 103 Commission established to review terrorist threats following the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 (Lockerbie Bombing). In 1993, Jenkins was on a team contracted by the New Jersey-New York Port Authority to review threats and develop new security measures for the World Trade Center following the Feb. 1993 bombing. In 1996, President Clinton appointed Jenkins to be a Member of the White House Commission on Aviation Safety and Security from 1996 to 1997. Between 1999 and 2000, he served as an advisor to the National Commission on Terrorism. |
