3. Biography:

Amy Goodman is Host and Executive Producer of the daily, independent, national news program Democracy Now!, which is aired on over 800 TV and radio stations in North America. The show features news stories that are underreported or ignored in mainstream media.

Goodman has won numerous awards for her reporting, including the Right Livelihood Award in 2008, the Park Center for Independent Media’s Izzy Award in 2009, the Communication for Peace Award from the World Association for Christian Communication in 2008, the Paley Center for Media’s She’s Made It Award in 2007, the Puffin/Nation Prize for Creative Citizenship in 2006, and many others. In addition, Goodman has received the Golden Reel for the Best National Documentary for Drilling and Killing: Chevron and Nigeria’s Oil Dictatorship in 1998, and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Prize for Massacre: the Story of East Timor.

Goodman has authored four New York Times best sellers and writes a weekly column syndicated by King Features.
