“On September 6, 2006, President George W. Bush admitted the existence of a secret CIA program to abduct, detain, and interrogate people outside of America as part of his war on terror. In a carefully worded statement, intended to portray himself as a strong leader, Bush referred to the CIA interrogation techniques as tough, lawful, and necessary: ‘We are getting vital information necessary to do our jobs and that is to protect the American people and our allies.’ The president said he could not describe the methods used in the CIA program.”
