The panel…questioned the September [24] 2002 British white paper’s ‘bald claim’ that Iraq had tried to buy ‘significant quantities of uranium from Africa.’ The panel noted that government ministers had insisted there was ‘other evidence’ beyond the forged Niger documents to support the assertion, but the ministers had not disclosed what that evidence was – or whether they stood behind it.“
