“According to the government, UA [United Airlines Flight] 93 crashes at 10:03 [on September 11, 2001], just north of the Somerset County Airport, about eighty miles southeast of Pittsburgh [Pennsylvania], 124 miles or fifteen minutes from Washington, D.C. The [cockpit voice] recording appears to end a minute before the official crash time. But a U.S. army seismic study concludes that, in fact, the crash happens at 10:06:05. The discrepancy is so puzzling that the Philadelphia Daily News does an investigation. In an article [on September 16, 2002] headlined ‘Three-Minute Discrepancy in Tape,’ the paper notes that ‘leading seismologists agree Flight 93 crashed at 10:06:05 a.m., give or take a couple of seconds, and government officials won’t explain why they say the plane crashed at 10:03.’ ”
