The final draft of an investigation into the case for the Iraq invasion was led by Congressman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI), and released on August 4, 2006. It stated: ” ‘In brief, we have found that there is substantial evidence the President [Bush], the Vice President [Dick Cheney] and other high ranking members of the Bush Administration misled Congress and the American people regarding the decision to go to war with Iraq; [and that they] misstated and manipulated intelligence information regarding the justification for such war…’ ”
