Then-National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice wrote: “Before leaving for Crawford [Texas], I took advantage of an interview with the BBC [on August 15, 2002] to say that there was a moral case and a national security argument for overthrowing Saddam. ‘We certainly do not have the luxury of doing nothing,’ I said. That was taken as more evidence that the President [Bush] was building his case for war.”
