The Islamic Army of the People of Kenya, a front organization for Al Qaeda, delivered a communiqué on August 11, 1998, three days after the twin bombings of American embassies in Africa. It read: ” ‘The attack was justified because the Government of Kenya admitted the Americans to have used their land to fight Muslim neighbors especially Somalia. Furthermore, Kenya collaborated with Israel. In this country you find the most anti-Islam Jewish centres in the whole of East Africa. From Kenya, the Americans supported the war of separation in Southern Sudan led by the fighters of John Garang.’ “
