In June [2] 2008, quoting the U.S. government, [lawyer Clive] Stafford Smith said that at least 26,000 people were being held without trial in secret prisons and that as many as 80,000 had been through the secret prison system since 2001. The CIA sent its prisoners to Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Qatar, and Morocco, as well as Pakistan and Egypt.”
