According to a June 12, 2004 Washington Post article: “Documents obtained by the Washington Post and the American Civil Liberties Union showed that the senior military officer in Iraq, Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, authorized the use of military dogs, extreme temperatures, reverse sleep patterns, and sensory deprivation as interrogation techniques in Abu Ghraib.”
