4/4/1995

“Revenge for the assistance of the Philippines National Police in [World Trade Center bomber Ramzi] Yousef’s capture and the arrest of the six other terrorist suspects [who collaborated with him] may have been the motive for an appalling Abu Sayyaf [Islamic militant group] attack on the Christian town of Ipil, north-east of Zamboanga in the southern Philippines, at the beginning of April [4] 1995. More than 200 gunmen killed 53 people, injured hundreds more and burnt half the town.”
