2/26/1993

On February 26, 1993, terrorist Ramzi Yousef and his cell brought their 1,500-lb. bomb to the World Trade Center. “Moments after they sped out of the World Trade Center garage, the device detonated with the force of 150,000 pounds per square inch, obliterating the van and blowing through four floors of eleven-inch-thick rebarred concrete.” Six were killed, 1,000 injured. “Under the direction of Ramzi Yousef, [Al Qaeda double agent] Ali Mohamed’s cell had brought bin Laden’s thousand-year war against the Crusaders to New York City. It would prove to be Yousef’s first of two dates with the Twin Towers.”
