During a discussion on situation in Iraq while in Iraq, “Casey [General George W. Casey Jr] was in charge of our Iraq Command, and he did his best to put a positive face on the situation. John McCain seemed impatient, even grumpy with the four-star general as he sought information about the training of Iraqi troops. When I got the chance to ask a question, I followed up on Casey’s statement that the number of bombings in the country and especially Baghdad had been reduced, I said, “Well, how many is ‘reduced’? How many are there now?” He replied, sheepishly, “Oh fifty or sixty a day.” Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins gasped and Hillary Clinton shook her head.”
