“In an article in the journal Foreign Affairs on February 10, 2006, retired CIA agent Paul Pillar, who oversaw CIA intelligence assessments about Iraq from 2000 to 2005, accused the Bush administration of ‘cherry-picking’ intelligence on Iraq. ‘Intelligence was misused publicly…to justify decisions that had already been made.’ He wrote that as a result of political pressure, CIA analysts began to ‘sugarcoat’ their conclusions regarding the threat posed by Iraqi weapons and about ties between Hussein and Al Qaeda.”
