During the transitional period between the Clinton and Bush administrations in the first week of January 2001, outgoing National Security Advisor Sandy Berger met with his successor, Condoleezza Rice, at a briefing on terrorism. Afterwards, he told her: ” ‘I believe that the Bush Administration will spend more time on terrorism generally, and on al-Qaeda specifically, than any other subject.’ ” [The 5th of the month used for date sorting purposes only.]
