Journalist Ben C. “Toledano observed: ‘[In 2003] the House and Senate Intelligence Committees prepared a joint report concerning September 11 and how it might have been prevented. Before the report was released, the Bush White House demanded certain deletions, including a 28-page section relating to the Saudis.’ A diplomatic reason for this was given on the BBC [on November 6, 2001] by journalist Greg Palast: ‘State wanted to keep the pro-American Saudi royal family in control of the world’s biggest oil spigot, even at the price of turning a blind eye to any terrorist connection so long as America was safe.’ ”
