In a press release issued on November 14, 2005, that attempted to deflect criticism of the decision of some members of Congress to support the invasion of Iraq, Senator John Kerry (D-MA) stated: ” ‘The very worst that Members of Congress can be accused of is trusting the intelligence we were selectively given by this [Bush] Administration, and taking the President at his word. But unlike this Administration, there is absolutely no suggestion that we intentionally went beyond what we were told were the facts.’ ”
