“[O]n October 26, 2001, President Bush signed into law the ‘Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act,’ otherwise known as the USA PATRIOT Act. Only one person voted against the act in the Senate… It passed with strong bipartisan support in the House (357 to 66). The law provided our nation’s law enforcement, national defense, and intelligence agencies with new or enhanced tools to disrupt, detain, and bring terrorists and other dangerous criminals to justice.”
