On October 20, 2000, “Sergeant Ali Mohamed, an Egyptian-born volunteer from the ranks of the U.S. Army’s Special Forces, confessed in federal court in Manhattan that he and senior bin Laden operatives met with [Hezbollah leader Imad] Mughniyah to discuss operational procedures and joint missions between Hezbollah and al-Qaeda. Sergeant Mohamed pled guilty to participating in the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.”
